Mindfulness meditation is a self management technique of interest for many chronic pain researchers since it is a low risk, high reward, and inexpensive intervention that could potentially improve mental well being and decrease pain in individuals suffering from chronic pain. The future of medicine is empowering patients to be able to self manage their medical conditions. Mindfulness meditation for chronic pain relief is one of the ways this can be done.
